Who we are

Jigsaw Publications is a family owned, South Australian business.

Jigsaw is directed by Barry Piltz who has over 35 years of experience in the development of educational and training programs in both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous communities across urban and rural Australia.

A number of full-time and part-time staff are employed in materials development, customer liaison, printing and dispatch, and office administration. Our on-site staff and their contact details are listed on the 'Contact Us' page.

What we do

Our suite of products (ResourceBuilder™, SkillsTracer™ and EasyRPL) work together to streamline your teaching and learning, providing an holistic training solution.

The Jigsaw Solution:

We provide a simple approach to RPL

SkillsTracer™ is an online application which simplifies recognition of prior learning (RPL).

With RPL, students don’t have to study topics in which they are already competent, or pay for components of a resource which they have already covered.

SkillsTracer™ allows students to upload evidence of their skills so a relevant educator (e.g. a lecturer or RPL assessor within your organisation) can validate their competence based on the evidence provided.

If the student can demonstrate competence, this information is saved in their online SkillsTracer™ ‘toolkit’ so the student does not have to demonstrate their knowledge again.

If the assessor believes the student is competent in some areas but not others, SkillsTracer™ automatically creates a gap-training resource containing only the information they are required to cover.

Powered by SkillsTracer™, EasyRPL makes the process even simpler:

  1. Lecturers/assessors assign unit of competency or whole qualifications to students for RPL.
  2. The students are presented with an online RPL questionnaire relevant to the chosen units/qualification.
  3. Student enter their responses online and upload any additional evidence, e.g. resumes, job descriptions, letters of reference, then submit their responses to their assessor.
  4. The lecturer/assessor views the evidence and RPL question responses online and makes an assessment decision.
  5. If RPL is granted, an audit ready RPL report is generated.
  6. If RPL is not granted, a individualised gap-training resource is generated, containing only the content the student requires to complete their learning.

At Jigsaw, we develop and publish high quality vocational training materials. All of our resources are 'built' using one or more of our 'skill publications'.

Each skill publication is like a short chapter, which focuses on one particular skill or topic - a small piece of learning.

Each skill publication can then be ‘flavoured’ with examples and activities appropriate to a particular industry or sector.

This unique approach allows materials to be tailored to your needs.

Using ResourceBuilder™, you choose the skill publications and flavours you need from our catalogue, and a customised print-based or online resource is automatically generated. In this way, you can have input into the materials you work with, and you can tailor resources to individuals or groups.
